MY APPROACH TO LIGHT AND AIRY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Timeless and luminous, for modern and romantic couples.

Light and airy, moody, editorial… Numerous photographic styles have developed since 1990. Today, I present to you my approach: light and airy wedding photography. This style, often highlighted on international blogs and highly appreciated by brides and grooms for its timelessness, is characterized by pastel colors close to reality, an editorial approach, and light that creates a light and airy atmosphere.

LIGHT AND AIRY: NATURAL VERSUS POSED

Two main approaches generally distinguish light and airy photography:

  1. Photographers who pose a lot: You can identify them by looking at their galleries: you will find a very fashion-like style, with few smiles and little movement (especially in couple photos).
  2. Photographers who do not guide at all: You can identify them by their reportage, documentary style: all movement in the photos, all candid shots.

My light and airy style is somewhere in between: I place you in beautiful light and a magnificent setting, then let you interact naturally. I seek to capture joy and authenticity. My goal is to make you feel comfortable, as a relaxed couple results in relaxed photos. I also make suggestions to evoke laughter, interactions, and capture your complicity, which is most important to me.

I don’t make you pose rigidly; I guide you to achieve the natural look I love in my photos!

Identifying posed photos: If you can imagine the photographer saying, « I’ll take the photo on three! One, two, three! », then the resulting photo is usually either serious with a fashion-like appearance or slightly stiff with a slightly forced smile because it was held for a few seconds.

THE LIGHT OF LIGHT AND AIRY PHOTOGRAPHY

One of the most flattering aspects of light and airy photography!

My goal is to minimize unflattering shadows to showcase you better. I use a lot of natural and soft light, such as window light indoors, shade outdoors, or backlighting.

Rest assured, I have an eye for finding this light and will guide you! For preparations, I recommend bright rooms and advise on the orientation of your ceremony concerning the sun. I guide you to find ideal spots for group and couple photos, always in search of flattering light.

THE COLORS OF LIGHT AND AIRY PHOTOGRAPHY

Light has a direct impact on colors: more light gives more pastel colors, while less light, like in the moody style, produces darker and more saturated colors.

In my style, the colors are pastel and close to reality, but some colors are slightly modified. For example, my greens are cooler and tend slightly towards blue. They are slightly desaturated so that they are less noticeable.

The contrast with true blacks is important to me: the dark tones remain truly dark in my photos. The sky colors are rarely a true blue, as what I want to highlight is you and your event, not the sky.

My approach respects the « true colors »: I ensure that makeup, flowers, and outfits remain as close to reality as possible.

IMAGE COMPOSITION

Of all the aspects of light and airy wedding photography, careful composition is certainly the one that most attracts blogs.

In my approach to light and airy wedding photography, particular attention is paid to details and symmetry.

The composition of my images is simple and clean, meaning I pay attention to elements that could disturb a good readability of the image, like an object behind the couple.

I take ensemble photos, of the venue, the ambiance, but also close-ups of jewelry, parts of the dress. It is important to me to highlight every aspect of your day.

How to check if a photographer pays attention to details?

A photographer with a purely reportage style might not necessarily do this and could sometimes overlook detailed and decoration photos. If these photos are important to you, keep an eye out! Otherwise, skip this step.

How to check if compositions are careful?

In the complete galleries of photographers you meet, keep an eye on the backgrounds. Are there objects that disrupt the image’s readability? Are the lines straight? And most importantly, what do you think? If it doesn’t bother you that there are distractions in the background, then it shouldn’t be a factor in your choice.
